About Chinese Herbal Medicine Chinese Medicine has been practiced in China for over 3,000 years. It has evolved over the centuries into a complete and highly-nuanced system, offering an alternative to Western medicine's view of how and why we get ill. Over the centuries, physicians have developed classical formulae in which herbs work symbiotically to enhance their therapeutic effects. Herbs are usually prescribed in complex formulae that are carefully matched to specific patterns of ill health, addressing the underlying constitution as well as the symptoms. This prescription can be altered over time as your health improves. Animal products are not allowed to be used in practice in the UK.
